There is a one-time equity buy-in of $5,000, and recurring monthly dues of $180. Plus any flight time.
How are members charged for flight time?
The rates for each aircraft are based on the tachometer hour, not a Hobbs meter like most flight schools and FBOs.
Our hourly rates are reviewed on a regular basis.
There is NO sales tax charged as you are an owner, not a renter.
And we are a non-profit entity, so we only charge what is needed to keep the club running.
Do I get any money back if I leave the club?
Yes. If you decide to leave the club, you are entitled to receive back your full buy-in amount.
How is scheduling handled?
Aircraft scheduling is done online using Flight Circle.
Do you offer a family membership?
Family memberships are available for a one-time $550 buy-in (non-refundable).
Family members do not pay any additional monthly dues.
Flight time billing is charged to the primary member's account.
How many members are in the club?
The size of the club varies, but our target is 45 members.
That membership limit is designed to maintain a good balance between scheduling availability and aircraft utilization.
Do you have CFIs in the club?
Yes. We have multiple flight instructors who are authorized to provide training in our aircraft.
These instructors can provide you with your initial club checkout, recurring annual checkouts, and can also offer additional flight instruction if desired for higher ratings or general proficiency.
The club does not employ any of our instructors.
They operate as independent contractors, with scheduling and payment negotiated directly between you and the CFI.
Can I bring my own CFI?
Club members may use a CFI who is a non-member only with prior approval from the Board of Directors.
The CFI must be current, meet our insurance requirements, complete a checkout with our Safety Officer, and provide copies of pertinent documents like CFI certificates, medical, etc.
Do you allow students?
Yes. Student pilots are currently able to fly our Cessna 172 during their primary training towards a private pilot certificate.
However, the club is not a flight school and does not directly provide flight training.
Any such training program is subject to the availability and oversight of a suitable flight instructor.
Are you insured? Do I need my own renters insurance?
The Arizona Cloudbusters carries liability and hull coverage for our aircraft while you are flying.
There is a deductible depending if the aircraft was in motion or not.
When you become an owner you are a named insured on our policy.
You may also supplement that with your own insurance, if desired, but it is not required.
Can I take the plane overnight?
Yes. Aircraft may be reserved and taken on overnight trips, typically up to 2 weeks.
A small minimum number of hours may be charged for each night away.
Can I take the planes to Mexico?
Yes. Club members are authorized to fly our aircraft to Mexico. Prior to your first flight south of the border, we highly suggest meeting with other club members who have made these flights in the past for more specific instructions.
